Screenflow (which I have used for around 5 years now) does it more eloquently than Captivate does, prompting users to upgrade their driver (not a term that is typical for Mac users) and then explaining how to use that driver in the future.

I use multiple screen capture tools that can capture Mac audio without needing to install additional third-party software (SnapzPro X for example), but I think it's even more prudent to look at companies with more high-end screen capture functionality and take a look at how they handle the situation. For a major company like Adobe to point to what looks like not-so-well-maintained software as a needed install, caught me off-guard. In fact, High Sierra just gets a workaround mention at the beginning of the page.

Now I usually don't like installing apps to make other apps work…and when going to the download page for Soundflower, it doesn't look like (no offence to its developers) that there is much maintenance going on. The hyperlink took me to this page, stating that in order to capture Mac audio you need to install something called Soundflower. This may not be new issue with Captivate, but I wasn't impressed with where it led me. In testing, I was intrigued by an odd warning I noticed saying that I couldn't capture the audio of my Mac. Now, with this new functionality, that whole process could be enhanced and look a whole lot more professional, with a video of the person speaking included…if only I wasn't so camera shy :-) But don't get me wrong, this is a superb enhancement! I then published those recordings up to the Adobe Connect server and made them available. What I did in the past (particularly at Massey University) when I needed to provide some rapid support for people using Adobe Connect, was fire up Captivate for a screen recording session, talking live over the capture as I explained how to do something. It's a fantastic new feature that will benefit many. Many of you reading that statement will say "No, not really", but what I mean is that the new functionality in Captivate clearly has its lineage associated with what has gone before. What Adobe has done (I think) is to take some of the functionality within the Adobe Presenter (a product I loved and miss using a lot) supporting application Adobe Presenter Video Express, and put it into Adobe Captivate. Wow! This one really caught my eye and I'm really pleased to see it included in the new version of Captivate….but I also find it intriguing.

So if anyone could help, I would be very thankful.Of 2 Smart Video recording (webcam and screen) However I must admit that xml would be the favored solution. Does anyone have a solution how to proceed? One option could be to export a word and translate again (3 time - yay) by using copy and paste. The thing is: What I can do now? I can not imagine that others just report a bug and wait patiently. Also tried to create a new xml file, translated this again with copy and paste, but whatever i do, CP will not reimport the file. I know that changing the name of the course or xml file causes the discussed error message. However, in the past (before the latest update!?), I had some difficulties, but was able to reimport. So I am experiencing the same issue with a project, in which i can not reimport the xml file to captivate.

Especially because there was a big update and we are on a newer version now. Hope it's okay when i pull up this thread again, but i am wondering if any changes / fixes occured lately. Furthermore, this is not due to any changes in the XML file during translation, as I tested by trying to import the XML file I had just exported from Captivate. I tried importing into the existing course file, into a blank project and into an empty responsive project (my course is responsive), but I get the same result each time.

My issue is the following: When I try to import XML back, it doesn't work, as I receive a message stating "Cannot import XML". I am currently using the latest version of Captivate 2019 (11.0.0.243) on which I have finished creating a new course.Īs this needs to be translated into several languages, I tried two ways:ġ) Export Project Captions to Word: The output format is not practical, as it retains the formatting used within Captivate, meaning I for example have some of the text to translate that is invisible (it is using a white font in CP and therefore doesn't show in Word - I would need to change the colour in Word, translate, then change back to white before re-importing into CP for it to be correct in the course)Ģ) Export XML: The export works fine and it is really not difficult to translate directly within the XML (better in fact, as it avoids changing text settings by mistake)
